## [SUPPORT WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SPORTS](https://clarkcountyrepublicanwomen.org/news/support-women-and-girls-in-sports)

Polls show that **most Americans support restricting transgender athletes from competing in women's sports.**

A **May 2025 AP poll** found that **73% of U.S. adults** believe transgender athletes should not be allowed to participate in girls' and women's sports at any level.

Another **AP-NORC poll** conducted in **May 2025** found that **52% of Americans approve of how Trump is handling transgender issues**, which is higher than his overall job approval rating of **41%**.

Additionally, a **New York Times/Ipsos survey from January 2025** found that **79% of Americans** support restricting transgender athletes from competing in women's sports.

The American people understand that this is not an issue of discrimination but is an issue of **fairness**. Biological males have a distinct physical advantage over biological females in sporting competitions.

**Polls indicate that most people do not want biological men in what should be safe spaces for biological females.** Sex-segregated spaces **exist to protect privacy**, particularly in areas where individuals may be in vulnerable such as changing or showering and **could increase the risk of harassment or assault**. At the very least physical differences between men and women **make shared spaces uncomfortable or inappropriate**.

## [Trump Taps Kari Lake To Lead The Voice Of America, The Government Broadcaster.](https://clarkcountyrepublicanwomen.org/news/trump-taps-kari-lake-to-lead-the-voice-of-america-the-government-broadcaster)

Trump tapped Lake earlier this month to lead the government broadcaster, which is aimed at overseas audiences.

Kari Lake has described how she intends to reshape Voice of America (VOA), committing to unbiased, editorially independent coverage while reiterating her loyalty to President-elect Donald Trump.

Lake, who was a longtime Arizona television journalist before entering politics, also outlined potential future investigations, including ones focused on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She indicated the outlet could build out coverage of Mexican cartels and Trump’s prospective mass deportation operation. In addition, she expressed an eagerness to consult with the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, on possible cost savings in VOA. “I think President Trump chose me because he knows that I will make sure that we’re not putting out a fake news product,” she said.

In his announcement on Lake’s selection as VOA director, Trump said she would be appointed by his soon-to-be-announced choice for CEO of the U.S. Agency for Global Media. The removal of the current VOA director, Michael Abramowitz, would have to be approved by the International Broadcasting Advisory Board, as would Lake as his replacement. The board is a seven-member panel: six members are appointed by the president and require Senate confirmation, and the final member is the Secretary of State.
